Kamal-Gowthami to fight for a noble cause

Kamal-Gowthami to fight for a noble causeMuch has been discussed, written and assumed about Kamal Haasan and Gowthami. Not many people know that Gowthami battled and survived cancer. The disease might have left many other victims debilitated, but both Kamal and Gowthami tackled the illness and today, they have both emerged stronger.
“Yes, breast cancer came as a jolt to both of us. It was in January 2005, I felt a lump and suspected something was wrong. After the initial tests, I was asked to go for a biopsy. Then one day, when Kamal was rushing to his shooting location, I asked him to stop for a minute before getting into his car. I held his hand and said, “I was referred for a biopsy,” says Gowthami.
“When she told me, it came as a shock. Not many know that I recorded the entire episode of her treatment. The idea of recording her treatment, feelings, experiences, opinions may sound morbid to others, but for me it was personally therapeutic to see her emerging as a healthy person again. It was like an interaction between both of us where she spoke from the depth of her heart,” reacts Kamal Hassan.
“The tape contains no glamour, no stardom, it is just all about our emotions. It was all about her journey through the ordeal, and we hope that someday, it can create awareness for others,” reacts Kamal Hassan. We will release the tape once we find the right platform there is nothing to hide in it. It is the story of a woman, not a celebrity. We are both committed to creating awareness about deadly diseases, and have geared up to fight whatever adversaries come our way,” added Kamal Hassan.
